It is undeniable fact that hardwood floors can make your home look more elegant, but it can also raise your home's value. However in order for your floors to continue looking like new, you have to take good care of them. Here are just a few tips that you can use to keep them looking like new.
1) Clean floors daily, if you find that you can't clean daily make a schedule to clean as much as you possibly can. Be consistent in your cleaning chores too.
2) Sand and dirt can really scratch the surface of your hardwood floor so be sure to clean them up immediately. It is recommended that you use a soft bristle brush for sweeping up dirt. A place mat to brush your feet can be placed outside any entry door. This helps lower the amount of dirt that comes into your home.
3) If you have pets it is best to keep them off of your floor. A dog or cat's claw can easily scratch wood floors so try and keep claws trimmed.
4)It's important to remember that when cleaning hardwood to always use the cleaning product that is recommended by the manufacturer.
5)Wood naturally expands when it is wet so never use lots of water when cleaning or wiping up spills.
